This Privacy Policy explains how IceCreamSocial (the "App"), operated by Optimistic Media ("we", "us"), collects, uses, and shares information when you use the App. By using IceCreamSocial you agree to this policy. This policy is incorporated into our Terms and Conditions by reference.

1. Who We Are

IceCreamSocial is a social networking platform that helps ice cream enthusiasts discover and review ice cream shops, connect with one another, and share photos, reviews, and experiences. The App is operated by Optimistic Media.

2. Information We Collect

Account information you provide

Email address (used for sign-up and sign-in)
Display name (separate from your legal name and changeable at any time)
Profile details you choose to add, such as a profile photo or bio

Your real name is not publicly displayed to other users.

Content you create

Photos, reviews, ratings, and posts about ice cream shops and experiences
Messages and interactions with other users

Location information

If you enable location services, we use your device location to power location-based discovery features through the Google Places API

Technical information

Standard device and usage data needed to operate, secure, and improve the service

3. How We Use Information

To create and manage your account and authenticate sign-in
To provide location-based discovery of ice cream shops and parlors
To display your display name, photos, and reviews to other users within the App
To enable social features such as connecting with and messaging other users
To review reports, enforce our Terms, prevent abuse, and keep the community safe
To operate, maintain, and improve the service

We do not sell your personal information.

4. How Information Is Shared

Google Places API is used to provide location-based discovery features. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Other users: your display name, profile photo, photos, reviews, and posts are visible to other users within the App.
Service providers that host and operate the App on our behalf may process data under appropriate confidentiality obligations.
Legal: we may disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the public. In situations involving child safety or immediate danger, we cooperate with law enforcement and report suspected child exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain account and content data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time within the App under Settings. Upon deletion, your account is deactivated immediately and all personal data is permanently removed from our systems within 90 days, unless retention is required for legal or security purposes. You may also request deletion by emailing privacy@geticecreamsocial.app with the email address associated with your account.

6. Security

Data transmitted between the App and our backend is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

7. Children's Privacy

IceCreamSocial is intended only for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we discover that a user is under 18, we will terminate the account and permanently delete the associated data. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us at privacy@geticecreamsocial.app.

8. Your Privacy Rights

We comply with applicable data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), where they apply to you. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. 9. Location Services

IceCreamSocial uses the Google Places API to provide location-based ice cream discovery features. By enabling location services, you consent to the collection and use of your location data as described in this policy. You may disable location services at any time through your device settings, though this may limit certain App features.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, by notice in the App.
