Ice Cream Social is a social networking platform for ice cream enthusiasts — discover and review ice cream shops, connect with others, and share photos, reviews, and experiences. It is operated by Optimistic Media LLC.
Account: your email address (for sign-up/sign-in), a display name (changeable and separate from your legal name), and optional profile details such as a photo or bio. Your real name is not publicly displayed.
Content you create: photos, reviews, ratings, and posts about ice cream shops, plus messages, voice messages, and interactions with other users.
Ice cream flavor preferences: the flavors you choose and your quiz answers, used for flavor matching and compatibility features.
Location: your device location (if you enable it) via the Google Places API, for location-based discovery.
Technical & advertising: standard device and usage data needed to operate, secure, and improve the service, plus — to show ads — a device advertising identifier used by Google AdMob. On iOS we ask for App Tracking Transparency permission before any tracking for ads.
To create and manage your account and authenticate sign-in; provide location-based discovery of ice cream shops; display your display name, photos, and reviews to other users; enable social features such as connecting and messaging; send notifications you enable (such as daily reminders and match activity); show ads via Google AdMob; review reports, enforce our Terms, and keep the community safe; and operate, maintain, and improve the service. We do not sell your personal information.
Ice Cream Social offers optional AI features that generate playful first-date tips and flavor-compatibility insights. They are off by default and opt-in: we ask for your permission before sending any data, and nothing is shared with the AI provider unless you turn AI Suggestions on.
AI-generated insights are for entertainment only and may not be accurate.
We retain account and content data while your account is active. You can delete your account anytime in Settings; your account is deactivated immediately and all personal data is permanently removed within 90 days unless required for legal or security purposes. You may also email privacy@geticecreamsocial.app from your account's email address.
We protect your information using industry-standard measures, and data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to safeguard your information.
Ice Cream Social is intended for users 18+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact privacy@geticecreamsocial.app and we will delete it and terminate the account.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) and the CCPA/CPRA (California) to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. We do not sell your personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@geticecreamsocial.app.
We use the Google Places API for location-based ice cream discovery. Enabling location services constitutes consent to collect and use your location data; you can disable it anytime in your device settings, which may limit some features.
We show ads through Google AdMob. On iOS we request App Tracking Transparency permission before any tracking for advertising, and you can opt out of personalized ads and reset your advertising ID in your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; Android: Settings → Google → Ads).
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective" date above and, where appropriate, with an in-app notice.
